Digital Instrumentation for Live Training Evaluation
ISL scientists and engineers excel in one or more of the following:
Machine learning techniques such as genetic algorithms and neural networks
Rule-based compilers
Intelligent/sensible agents
Data interchange formats, warehousing, and mining
Functional description of the mission space
Modeling and simulation data interchange formats
Software usability
Requirements definition and management
Recent activity includes membership in a multi-university consortium doing research in complexity management to better understand, mitigate, prevent and devise more effective ways to cope with complex situations and events that can become threats to U.S. national security. Crises to be considered include weapons of mass destruction, international regional conflicts, asymmetric warfare, attacks on critical infrastructure or facilities, agricultural terrorism and cyber terrorism.
In addition to our DoD efforts, ISL provides research in information assurance, intrusion detection, and information management for other Federal and State of Texas agencies. We also provide technical assessments of the Texas telecommunications infrastructure in support of K-12 education and public health care. Most recently ISL is coordinating research and development for command and control of state agencies and first responders for Homeland Defense.
