Graduate Research Assistants

Graduate Research Assistants

Graduate research assistants (GRAs) receive competitive compensation packages that include payment of in-state tuition and fees. Most GRAs pursue degrees in the engineering and natural sciences at the university and work on a variety of projects at ARL:UT, such as studying sound propagation through flames, bubble dynamics, fish school acoustics, and nonlinear shear wave propagation.

Overview

GRAs perform assigned services that contribute to their professional training and are usually suitable for use as part of their report, thesis, or dissertation research. Appointment to one of these positions is usually made in the student's department or another unit of the university where the research is related to the student's field of study. An advanced research assistant may carry out independent research under the guidance of a faculty member or senior research staff member within our laboratories.

The ARL:UT Student Council fosters cross-lab student interaction and community, including a student research showcase, social gatherings, and information sessions.
